Product Review ~Out of a Mishap~

So recently I was browsing around ASOS ~always dangerous~ and decide to order a New Look backpack I had been eyeing for ages as the perfect carry on for an upcoming trip. As I am about order one of those peer pressuring reminders popped up notifying me that if I were to spend an X amount of dollars shipping would be free. Of course I don't want to pay shipping if I can buy another item and spend only a bit more than I would on shipping ~excuses excuses tisk tisk~ ASOS, being a British company, stocks Bourjois and since I live in the states  I figured why not try something from the brand. Hearing so much hype about the Health Mix Foundation I added it to my basket and checked out. A week later when the package arrived I giddily ripped apart the box and dug in only to find ASOS had shipped me the Healthy Mix Serum Foundation.

Initially I was disappointed, but being the impatient ~and slightly lazy~ person I am I decided to not go through the hassle of returning the foundation and gave it a shot. BEST DECISION EVER ~see laziness has its advantages too~ When I first applied this foundation I was a little concerned as it was very moisturizing and I have combination oily skin, but it buffed and blended in so nicely. After the first layer had set I was blown away at how light it felt on my skin. There was no sticky feeling often left behind by hydrating foundations.

Since I am still battling a few blemishes I added a second layer of foundation where I needed it. It layer beautifully without any caking or accentuation of my dry patches. I was slightly shinier than I would have like through my T-zone, but it wasn't anything a little Rimmel Stay Matte powder couldn't fix.

I absolutely love the light texture of this foundation, so light my Maybelline Age-Rewind Concealer seemed heavier than normal. As for the staying power I'd say it held up pretty well, but of course you can judge that for yourselves from the pictures.

Overall I'd say this foundation is gorgeous and  if you can get your hands on it or you're only X amount of dollars away from free shipping on your ASOS order  go for it!

Black Liquid Liner Battle

If you're like me you need all the help you can get when trying to create that classic ~impossible~ cat eye flick. So theses two liquid liners dueled it out and here are my verdicts.

The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
I have to say this liner is incredibly easy to use and that's coming from someone who manages to get mascara on her nose more than she would like to admit. I think it has to do with how incredibly thin the tip is. The tip is made of tightly packed bristles similar to a calligraphy pen. This allow the tip to contour slightly to your eye shape as you draw your lin, but will still easily draw a straight line when drawing your flick. It does last all day but I must say it lacks in color intensity. I personally prefer something that is jet black if I'm doing a bold liner.

The NYC liquid liner
I've heard several great things about this liner in particular from Tati aka Glamlifeguru on YouTube ~seriously bow down she is queen of product reviews~ and I do agree with her that for a drugstore liner and the price ~cheap cheap~ It beats the Tattoo liner in color intensity for sure the color it gives of is inkwell black. It does last all day as well , but drawing a flick is not a breeze as with  the Tattoo liner. The tip is still a brush but it is thicker on one side as opposed to the other and much more flimsy. This means lots of makeup remover and Q-tips are used when I try to create a flick.

Final Thoughts
Despite the the price difference I think the Tattoo liner is my personal favorite ~ding ding ding we have a winner~ It is just an absolute dream to use and require little effort to create that dramatic cat eye.
